I’m a big fan of self-care. Taking care of yourself and scheduling time for yourself can do wonders for your own mental and physical health. If you take care of yourself physically and mentally you’ll have more to offer to the people around you. Half full or half empty; you’ll have more to offer if your own glass is always full!
Whatever it is you enjoy doing, schedule it. Have things to look forward to!
Some simple things I love doing for me: reading, exercising. Putting in my headphones and really listening to the music, dissecting the lyrics (music with a message).
One of the best things I did in the last year was to take up leisurely reading again. When I was a kid I loved reading but I lost that over the years through high school and university. I took up the hobby once again and its done wonders for my own stress levels. I love it. I’ve read a ton of books over the past year; maybe ill talk about those in a future blog but for now; The Hobbit will always be the best. If you haven’t read it, read it. I read The Hobbit in grade 4 and again 2 times after that. Still my all time favourite.

Bonus Tip: Its ok to gloat, sometimes. Hear me out.
Something I like to do every few months is to go through my clothes and pick out the things that I never really wear. I usually end up with a small bag full, sometimes more. Clothes I’ve accumulated and have taken too long to say bye-bye to. Once I have the clothes sorted I donate them. Even if its half a garbage bag of clothes or a Sobeys bag. When I donate them I tell everybody about it. Why? Because it makes me feel good when I do good things for other people. Plus! The more people I tell; the more people I can encourage to do the same thing or even plant in the back of their minds for the next time they’re in their closet thinking “wow I haven’t worn this in years.”
